Away from Tewke and the workbench — mountaineering, running, climbing, and overlanding.
Leading small expeditions since 2016
Away from work, mountaineering is where I go looking for a different kind of hard problem. What started as a self-led trip to summit Mont Blanc in 2016 grew into an attempt on Mt Elbrus in 2017, and many other mountaineering trips around the world — each one its own lesson in logistics, weather, and meeting new people.
Running, climbing and overlanding — three more ways to stay outside, and stay a little out of my depth.
I run for the same reasons I climb — to stay outside, and after doing my first ultra marathon when I was 18 they keep finding themselves in my calendar.
I've been climbing since I was 5 and first fell out of a tree. The walls have just gotten harder and in more spectacular locations.
I have always loved road trips, so it was only a matter of time before I drove across that Sahara desert and took cars to other remote places.
